'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Relatives of Unaccounted For Teenagers Desperately Seek Information After Ski Resort Fire

The families of teenagers missing after a tragic blaze at a bar in a Switzerland's winter destination are enduring an painful wait for confirmed information and requesting information about their loved ones online.

The blaze devastated the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Verified footage depict the roof structure being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the victims of the fire, which resulted in the death of four dozen individuals and wounded another scores more. Authorities stated on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts continuing to identify the other six.

In the interim, families and friends have been posting on online platforms to appeal for information about their friends who were present at the venue that evening.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his parent.

The who lives of a town near Lausanne, told a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.

"This is a living nightmare, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in critical condition. It's horrific," she told the paper.

She continued that some of his companions had been discovered with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they experienced an absolute nightmare."

The Italian foreign ministry has indicated that a number of of its young people remain missing.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last in contact around the turn of the new year on New Year's Eve, his father said.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old sportsman, originally from Genoa but now residing in Dubai.

The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is no longer with us, without mentioning the fire, honoring a "young athlete who represented dedication and true sportsmanship."

His father, told media that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has indicated that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Other Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also among the missing. His mother told reporters that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and found himself at the bar.

"A companion informed me they escaped after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he they were separated," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.

One of his teachers said, "I've always been struck by his good nature and positive demeanor, combined with great maturity. Often offer to get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her sibling has posted an urgent request online, saying the relatives has had "no news" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.

Officials from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the situation.
