NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features text commentary for the weekend matchups via various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary is available through designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the NFL season and after recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Striking in those games were the number of infractions both committed. The Eagles committed them at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.

However it proved good to observe that Denver quarterback the rookie managed to have the shortfall before lead three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, to win the victory by four points.

The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, yet Denver won that contest.

They executed the Eagles' number regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily rushing extra pass rushers but they might position two LBs in the interior then drop them out and send a nickel from the outside.

At the start of the season, it was noted during a show how the Broncos could be the current year's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year strongly and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this year's dark horses?

New TE Evan Engram has excelled big and recent RB their rusher is a player the team trusts. He now ranks 5th league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).

I love how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush while keeps you in positive situations.

This has helped quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have powerful arms to pass all over, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, and he's highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, being able to throw on the run, and using different arm angles to make the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He can deliver precision throws over the middle or past defenders.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got a lot of poise under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack as much as possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

When you consistently rush it consumes time and forces the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the area downfield and horizontally. It can be exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for the coach to have a rookie QB who's similar to play-dough. The coach can truly build something up the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

Payton owns a championship and now surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are experiencing on offence is mostly down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids make him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and build self-belief.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to go against an elite team at its best? Since that was not championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a solid position to be in their division. The key is to continue this trajectory.

They excel at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad yet to win a game.

Since the NFL began tracking turnovers decades ago, the Jets are the first team to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is surprising considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the division.

This hinges on which form of the Chiefs they meet since Denver {beat|def
