Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
