Performer Denies Anti-Vaxxer Views Following Lending His Voice To Controversial Pandemic Documentary

The acclaimed actor has provided his voice to a recent film that casts doubt on the safety of vaccines and commends former government figure RFK Jr.

The Documentary's Provocative Basis

Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a bestselling book co-authored by a controversial scientist, who rose to infamy during the health crisis for allegations that the illness was caused by a bad strain of the seasonal immunization.

Her co-author, a producer, has previously authored books with far-right media personality Alex Jones. He took to social media hailing Neeson's participation in the project.

An Unequivocal Statement

Representatives for Liam Neeson have issued a response firmly refuting suggestions that he supports anti-vax beliefs.

"Everyone can understand that misconduct might be present within the medical sector, but that cannot be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the response explains. "He never has been, and is not, against vaccines. His extensive work with the global charity highlights his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."

The response continued that the actor had no hand in the film's narrative and that concerns about its assertions are best addressed to the filmmakers.

Major Themes Within the Feature

In the film, the voiceover spoken by Neeson makes several controversial claims:

  • It states that pro-immunization voices have demanded "blind obedience" to health authorities.
  • It argues that "research has become dangerously influenced by politics."
  • RFK Jr is featured claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not properly vetted."
  • The narration takes aim at pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused mental anguish that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
  • On the topic of pandemic shots, it references a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "risky trials."

Previous Context and Recent Disputes

The documentary further cites a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the focus of a formal apology by the network for unbalanced reporting.

Last month, RFK Jr directed the Centers for Disease Control to change its official position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is echoed in the documentary, despite a fresh analysis from the World Health Organisation confirming no such link has been found.

An Earlier Position of Advocacy

Standing in contrast to the documentary's narrative, Neeson has in the past voiced strong support for vaccines in his position as a Unicef global ambassador.

Previously, he described vaccines as "a remarkable human success story," stating that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."

"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's narration saying, "This marks not the finish of our journey. Rather, it is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
