Seamer Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Concerns.

'Major setback' for the touring side after Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer increased the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the field early on day two of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler experienced discomfort in his left hamstring post-delivery that he bowled at the MCG.

The touring camp stated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and was to take time on the sidelines to undergo evaluation "during the day".

The concluding match in this Ashes battle in Sydney starts on Sunday, 4 January.

England have previously lost strike bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and another paceman with an abdominal strain on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, taking just three wickets.

He was dropped of the third Test, then recalled for the Boxing Day match in the playing XI.

Surrey's Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman being one of only three teammates who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he came back for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, at the end of the fifth over, he delivered a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.

Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out of the third.
