Six Individuals Detained After €12 Million Robbery on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

A group of six individuals using assault rifles and handguns used explosive devices to force entry into a gold refining laboratory located in Lyon, France, slightly injuring five workers during described as the most recent prominent daytime heist to hit France.

The bold operation took place on the afternoon of Thursday, with law enforcement authorities rapidly detaining the alleged criminals and retrieving the loot estimated to be worth 12 million euros (£10.5M), as stated by authorities.

Five employees of Laboratoires Pourquery were slightly hurt due to the explosion, and three individuals required hospital checks for assessment, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight workers were at the location when the thieves struck.

The individuals, believed to be experienced criminals, were taken into custody soon afterwards in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, according to investigative sources.

A female participant who participated in the heist was likewise arrested, according to law enforcement.

“Six individuals who used detonations in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” the nation's interior minister announced via X, commending law enforcement for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were also confiscated.

The heist took place as authorities on the same day detained five further people, among them a key figure, in regarding the recent audacious raid on the Louvre museum.

Many investigative personnel have been searching for four thieves who utilized a lorry featuring an elevating platform and cutting gear to access a gallery on the first floor at the renowned museum on the nineteenth of October, making off with precious items estimated to be worth €88M.

In a separate high-profile case, thieves last month broke into the Natural History Museum in Paris, making off with gold samples worth over $1 million. A young Chinese female was taken into custody recently in Barcelona in connection with the break-in, prosecutors stated.
