Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the makers of acetaminophen, asserting the corporations hid alleged dangers that the drug presented to pediatric brain development.

The lawsuit arrives thirty days after Donald Trump advocated an unproven link between consuming acetaminophen - alternatively called acetaminophen - throughout gestation and autism in offspring.

Paxton is taking legal action against J&J, which once produced the medication, the sole analgesic approved for women during pregnancy, and Kenvue, which currently produces it.

In a statement, he said they "betrayed America by gaining financially from pain and promoting medication regardless of the risks."

Kenvue asserts there is insufficient reliable data linking Tylenol to autism spectrum disorder.

"These companies misled for generations, intentionally threatening numerous people to boost earnings," the attorney general, a Republican, stated.

The manufacturer stated officially that it was "seriously troubled by the perpetuation of misinformation on the safety of paracetamol and the possible consequences that could have on the health of women and children in America."

On its official site, Kenvue also mentioned it had "consistently assessed the relevant science and there is lacking reliable evidence that demonstrates a verified association between using paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder."

Groups acting on behalf of physicians and healthcare providers share this view.

ACOG has declared acetaminophen - the primary component in Tylenol - is one of the few options for women during pregnancy to address discomfort and elevated temperature, which can pose serious health risks if ignored.

"In multiple decades of research on the utilization of acetaminophen in gestation, zero credible investigations has conclusively proven that the consumption of paracetamol in any trimester of pregnancy causes brain development issues in offspring," the association commented.

The court filing references latest statements from the former administration in claiming the drug is reportedly hazardous.

Recently, the former president caused concern from public health officials when he advised pregnant women to "fight like hell" not to consume Tylenol when sick.

Federal regulators then published an announcement that doctors should contemplate reducing the use of Tylenol, while also mentioning that "a proven link" between the drug and autism spectrum disorder in minors has not been proven.

Health Secretary Kennedy, who manages the Food and Drug Administration, had pledged in April to initiate "a massive testing and research effort" that would establish the origin of autism in a limited time.

But specialists cautioned that identifying a sole reason of autism - thought by researchers to be the result of a complex mix of genetic and environmental factors - would not be simple.

Autism spectrum disorder is a form of enduring cognitive variation and impairment that influences how people encounter and interact with the surroundings, and is diagnosed using physician assessments.

In his legal document, Paxton - a Trump ally who is seeking federal office - alleges the manufacturer and Johnson & Johnson "willfully ignored and tried to quiet the research" around paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder.

The lawsuit seeks to make the corporations "destroy any promotional materials" that asserts Tylenol is reliable for women during pregnancy.

This legal action parallels the complaints of a group of guardians of young ones with autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who took legal action against the makers of Tylenol in recently.

A federal judge rejected the legal action, stating research from the parents' expert witnesses was not conclusive.
